Disabling SIR (Air bag) system

HELP! Ok, trying to check my wiring behind the dash, and I'm told to disable my air bag system before doing so (according to Chilton's manual). The diagrams aren't clear enough, but I think I can spot where the CPA's are at. I don't want to f' anything up - so can anyone tell me exactly where the connectors are located under/near steering column? And also what all needs to be disconnected? I've already disconnected negative battery cable and removed the fuse...

Does anyone else have experience with disconnecting the CPA's near the steering column??

disconnect your battery and do what you have to do.. your airbags arent going to go off... I've had my dash apart many times.

^^^ like he said disconecting the battery will be enough and taking out the fuse is a plus but thats alls you need to do I left my fuse out and took out my passenger side air bag and soon driver when I get my new steering wheel in.

Why, thank you very much Mister STYLEZ24 - I appreciate your expertise... I kind of wondered why it just HAD to be disabled, since the system can only carry a charge for another 10 minutes after the battery is disconnected.
