I have a 97 Z71 silverado and i do a lot of off-roading and muddin so naturally i ponder about getting a suspension lift. the type of kit i want is a 6" IFS w/ rear blocks and i also want to get a 3" body list. but on the matter of the suspension lift, what would this do to the driveablity of the truck as a daily driver? For example would i have to buy a longer drive shaft and what effect would this have on the handling?

Hello,
You would have to buy a new drive shaft. The handling of the truck will change. The truck will seem more tipsy, the steering of the truck will be different. Plus your MPG will go down.

thanks for the info, although im not lookin forward to giving up my 4" driveshaft and similar one would most likely be quite pricy to buy. would anit-swat bars or another kind of handeling system help with the steering and control?

i dont remember which company makes it, but there is a new lift system out that gives you an adaptor with the kit and you dont have to replace your driveshaft. its around $1200 for the entire kit. if you look around you will be able to find it im sure.

Actually if the job is done at a great suspension shop it shouldn't have that much of a tipsy feeling. Provided that anti-sway, anti-roll bars are installed.
I cannot stress this enough, do not go cheap when lifting a truck, or dropping for that matter. Have gears changed and a beefier driveshaft installed as well. One thing with the body lift you will notice an increase in cab creaks and squeeks. Body lifts aren't the greatest thing to do.

I have a 2000 Silverado and I want to put a 3" lift kit into it. I have not been able to find a one cheap any wear. I was wondering if any one knew of one.

A NEW DRIVESHAFT??? WHAT!! No.. you won't need a new driveshaft. The truck should not handle differently if it is a quality kit. The only reason the gas mileage would go down is if you would put bigger tires on it and not regear it. Take it to a QUALIFIED!!! suspension shop.
