i suggest you establish a price range and look at some used cars. You can get more bang for your buck if you pick up a well-mantained car.

The SRT4 is kinda in a class above the lancer, sentra, and the cavalier. If you can afford a SRT4, get a RSX-S

Why?
The SRT-4 will mop the floor with an RSX Type S.

Yeah why get a RSX-S...it is more reliable better built and shit...but if you want to race it, the SRT will MURDER the rsx-s along with the s2000 and the 350z...and many many more...

personally i would never get an srt-4. it might be fast, but it still has those goofy lights and goofy stance like a neon. what price range are you looking at and what are you looking for in a car helps a lot.

if youre going to get an car, you should consider test driving all of them first. i would recomend a wrx if you can spring for the srt

High-end horsepower is easy. I'm a man for low-end torque. :p

Well, in that price range you have a great list of cars to choose from depending on what you want from the car.
Toyota Supra
Subaru WRX
Dodge SRT-4
Dodge Stealth RT/TT
Mitsubishi 300GT VR4
Nissan 300ZX TT
Ford Mustang Cobra
Chevy Camaro Z28
There are plenty of other cars in your price range. What do you really want out of this car?

polygon gave a pretty good list of cars for what it seems you are looking for. for 20000 you can get a really nice 300zx tt and have about 5000 left for mods. or you can take the stealth or vr4 and do the same thing.

What's this? Freakonaleash is recommending a 300ZX TT? Wow, what a huge surprise! :p
Just messing with you man.

Hehe, you know I'm just kidding, and you don't need to "Get better" it's nothing wrong to love your car. You and polygon are like that, for every thread asking for advice, you guys end up recommending your own car, for everything! haha. :p
And no, I don't do that, I love my Mustang but I know it ain't for everyone.

I happen to like the looks of the SRT-4s. Sure its a neon but think about it "I killed a mustang with my neon today" how wonderful is it to say that

The SRT-4 will hang with a WRX, 350Z, and S2000, but it won't beat them. And although it's suspension-tuning is near perfect, it'll have a hard time handling better than the aforementioned. If you want maximum performance, the SRT-4 is the most you can get for $20,000, but if you want a more comfortable, better built car, go with the RSX Type-S (which isn't exactly slow, just nowhere near the SRT-4).
