Interior Lighting Problems! HELP!

Just installed an aftermarket headunit into my 92 Corolla. Had several problems after installation. Here they are:

1) interior lighting: speedometer guage cluster, A/C cluster, and drive shaft cluster. all lights have not come back on. i thought it was the headunit, but then i unplugged the entire headunit and the lights still didn't turn on. i have one assumption and that is the illumination wire, should i just snip it?

2) fuse for tail lights keep burning. it's burnt thrice.

Please advice and help!

My g/f car has the same problem, its a 98 corolla and I installed an aftermarket HU a few months ago. The interior lights just went out last week.

Anyone have a solution? I've checked all the fuses I can find already.

YOu probably burnt out your dimmer switch. YOu need to attach a relay to your HU, because without a relay, you will draw too much current for the circuit, hence why both of you are blowing fuses. A relay is not a toggle switch!

I have this same problem. 1992 Corolla LSX, installed a Alpine head unit myself, no wiring harness, maybe that would fix it? I have 2 extra wires which are not related to the stereo system as far as I can tell. They are the Green and White/Green wires. I have a wiriing diagram from Toyota and it indicated that they carry power to the HU, altho not the primary power? These wires also seem to run thru a ton of other system, including the instrument cluster, yet they are charted to run in parallel therefore it shouldn't affect the other system. any ideas out there why it is doing this? I think it has something to do with the deck because when I put the old deck in everything works fine. I am not blowing fuses or anything, I just don't have any dash lights. any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Shaun

the green is the positive for your illumination.... the white green is the negative for your illumination... I had tried to install a HU myself... but screwed up... I bought a new CD player and had Best Buy install it... but I have my neons placed on the pillars in my back hatch and they are run to the green wire... so when I cut on my parking lights (ilummination) they come on...

oh yeah, I forgot... when Best Buy installed the HU... they messed something up... b/c as soon as my HU cuts on...all the dash lights cut on... and they bypassed the switch... cept when parking lights are on...
