I found a good deal on a 240sx and am considering choosing that as my every day driver. I am looking to tune it to around 300hp as cheaply as possible. So if anyone can help please post or e-mail me at [email protected] Thanks

If its your daily driver don't bother modding it. You want a toy car then buy another one to upgrade or to drive to work while you hop this one up. And you aren't going to get 300HP with out a turbo. I'm guessing that it probably has atleast 100k miles on it and therefore would most likely need a rebuild before a turbo or you would have to swap. Someone will probably jump on me for saying this but even if you find a SR (easiest engine swap, least powerful but cheapest) for 2K then it will probably be atleast 2500-3000 to get it in the car and on the road. But all that has been covered a million times and is in the sticky up there.
240s are nice daily drivers even in stock condition. Lots of low end torque makes them easy to drive, they handle well and they have that nice rear storage shelf (also known as the back seat) to make them fairly functional (hatch back will swallow a ladder if positioned right).
I was going to mod my 89 fastback 240 but I started looking at what it would cost just to upgrade alot of the stock pieces to the point where I could run big power, not to mentition the performance parts on top of that, and I just bought a 300ZX TT instead since its already as quick as a modded 240 even in mostly stock condition and has more potential in the long run.

[easiest engine swap, least powerful]
It may be the most common but if you tune it right you can get close to 1000hp with a sr motor!!!!!

1000hp with a sr motor!!!!!
Well that would certainly be something to see because its only a little 2 liter motor. Unless you have some links to a dyno run pic or something of that nature I'll have to hold off on that one. That would have to run to like 10,000 rpms pushing 50 PSI of boost then hit a huge nitrous shot or something to make 1000 hp. Might be possible if you dump enough money into it but by then the only thing SR about the motor would be the stickers.
At some point you just need more motor.
