hood release

help, i cannot get my hood to release.

i have a 91 lumina , the release under the dash has been broke since i bought the car...there was the release cable sticking out the fromthe grill and i was able to pull on that and it would release untill recently.

i tried banging on the hood and pulling and no avail..any ideas?

What I would do is drive it to a garage and ask them to install a new one... they will be able to open it and repair it all in one shot

try your dambdest to open the hood once you get it open tie a rope or if the cable is there attache it to the release (were it is supposed to go) then tie the other end to the bottom of the license plate sounds funny but it works all you have to do is pull on the bottom of the license plate to open the hood.lol. also when you get it opened spray the latch down with white lithiume good stuff...
