Yeah, they're both broke...It's that cheap white metal from what I was told...Does anyone have an idea of how they could cheaply be repaired/reglued, etc...I thought about drilling a small hole and installing a pin covered with jb liquid weld...I broke the one handle and the step-daughter did the honors of doing the other...The good thing is they both are pretty upright versus fully reclined (a good thing)...Thanks for any advise/help that you all can give...Doug

The post for the lever is fairly long, and solid once the tabs break off. What about drilling and tapping the stud and running a bolt in. Then you can use a wrench to recline the seat.
The service department doesn't rip you off, parts does. We can't do anything about the price of parts but out labor rates are comparable to most of the aftermarket shops. All customers have the right to request aftermarket parts installed.
Yes, I know you can only get the recliner from GM.

That sounds like a good idea, I didn't mean to offend you by saying I was going to get ripped off. Maybe my Chevy dealer is just bad, they quoted me almost $500 to fix it.

I'm not offended, I just get tired of reading how pissed off people get with bad dealership experiences. I've made a career out of this and am proud of what I do, but there are alot of bad apples out there making the rest of us look like crooks.
Anyway, if you're talking about the handle on the side of the seat that controls the recliner and possibly the easy-entry handle, the part is usually less than $100. It only takes about a half hour to put in. You don't have to take out the seat or anything.
Might even be something you could do.

If your talking about the recliner handle on the side of the seat, then I had the same problem. wittydeals.com sells replacment handles that fit right over the broken stem. You tighten them down with an allen wrench thats included with the handle. I brought one for the passenger side, and it worked like a charm. http://www.wittydeals.com/product_info.php?ad=froogle&products_id=29

Wow! Thanks for the link - I don't mean to bring up a month-old post, but I have been putting up with crappy broken off handles on my 98 Blazer's seats for two years. I just ordered both sides, and I can't wait to get them. :)
Autozone and Advance Auto Parts can get them too for less if you order them (Motormite HELP! Part number 77199), but I think they are not as nice/sturdy as the ones I just ordered using your link.

I went to Autozone and I looked at the one that Help makes. Talk about fixing one flaw with another flaw!!!
The one that help makes is a one piece molded plastic part, and it fits over the broken shaft, and there is a little plastic tab on the inside of the handle that fits inside the slot on the shaft. This would be great if it was just for show (just don't USE it).
The one from wittydeals.com is actually four parts; the aluminum adaptor, the handle, the hardened set screw, and the cap screw that holds them together.
The adaptor is machined aluminum part with a threaded hole for the hardened set screw. The set screw bites into that slot in the shaft where the plastic tab on helps product goes. This aluminum part goes over the broken shaft and actually just replaces the broken pot metal part of the shaft with a much stronger aluminum.
The handle that comes with the kit is actually the same as the GM part (A metal sleave with two tabs and splines with a molded plastic handle around it). You could actually use your old handle if you wanted (unless it is the clip design).

Anybody know if this seat adjustment lever can be used for a Ford Focus ZX3?
The design of the lever looks the same on their webpage.
