HELP! 2000 Blazer with vibration

I had new tires put on in Feb. The last part of April I suddenly had a vibration when you hit 60 to 70 mph. I took it back to the tire place and they found 1 tire had a slight defect, so they gave me 2 new tires, balanced and rotated them. It still had the vibration. Took it to the dealer, they said it was in the tires. Took it back to the tire place, they put the best tires made on it, and it still does it! Any suggestions? Thanks. Oh, it has 52,000 miles and I am the only owner. The dealership and the tire place checked the wheels and brakes and they are fine.

Check for worn or loose front end parts. But my experience with high speed vibration has always been either wheel dinged or more likely poor tyre balance.

You may want to have your universal joints checked. I just replaced mine after 170,000 miles (OOPS!) and the rear end vibration I had is gone.

Does the vibration cycle every 15 to 20 seconds. Meaning that it gets worse and more noticable, then settles down, then worse and more noticable, then settles down, then worse and more noticable, then settles down - every 15 to 20 seconds.

I'll have to let you know when I get it back tomorrow. It's been at the dealer since last Wed. and they can't find it. Thank goodness they aren't charging me! They have taken things off of a new 2004 and put them on mine and it still does it. If it does what you are asking, what do you think it is?

have the motor mounts been checked?

you sure its not the bearing? i just replaced both of mine in the front

I have the same problem with my 2000 blazer the dealership and tire shop never could find out what was wrong....go figure....hope ya find something out

I'm having the same problem. Had a total of 6 tires put on. Idler is junk after 7 months (since i had it first changed out) thank god the ball joints are still intact ( crossing fingers). Monday I'm having the idler arm redone at only the cost for 1 hours labor then if they find anything else im going to head straight for the dealership. Thanx for the idea to check the universal. Possible shock problem too. Will update as soon as I find something with mine.

If you guys ever figure this one out PLEASE post the results. I've chased this thing for the better part of a year now. Vibration starting around 60 mph to 70 mph. Everywhere else is fine. U-joints fine. All front end components good. Torsion bars are good. Shocks fine. Tires balanced with no defects. Kelly Chargers/stock size. I am at wits end with it. I either drive 55 or 75+. Smooth as silk then.

This is indeed a tire problem.

Wheel balancing does not account for imperfection in the tire or uneven wearing.

I am having a similar problem with my 96'. Could bad Tie rods produce this? I have replaced my outers and the idler arm but it still does it sometimes. The other problem is the parts are expensive and I don't like to spend money needlessly. I have bal. rotated, and alined so many times my fingers hurt from counting (good thing Just Tires has a 6mo warrenty). Would U-joints only effect the rear?

Had all four tires replaced with new, brakes and rotors new, two lower ball joints, u joints, dealer told me it was a rim and soaked me for a new rim, and I still have the vibration. The dealer has given up and tells me it is a shop rate hour by hour diagnosis until they confirm the problem, but they are not sure they can even do that. GM doesn't want to get involved as I'm out of warranty by one year, even though the vibration was noted on 7 work orders while in warranty.

Done with the ball joints.

I have the smae issue wth my 2000 Blazer LT - I have put two sets of tires on, replaced u-joints, replaced rear wheel bearings, had drive shaft balanced, new grease in rear dif, new shocks and still has vibration. Please post the fix if you ever find it.

Have you even had the tires checked for balance?

I have had my tires balanced more than I care to admit, tried different shops, even balanced on the truck. 3 Alignments in the last year alone, because everyone thinks that will fix it. My brother has a 2001 Jimmy, just reached 65,000km's and called me to ask if I have a vibration with a cycling low moan at about 120km/h...I started laughing. I had my truck at the stealership today, $350 bucks to tell me they still can't find the problem, but we tightened a stabilzer link up that we found was loose. They have given up and told me my vibration is not as bad as some of the trucks so I should be happy? I think there is a quick fix for the problem......FOR SALE ....and I have only ever driven GM products.
By the way, if you want to see the TSB for these vehicles, ask the dealer to pull up the "Vibration diagnosis and correction" TSB document from GM for these vehicles. The document is huge.

Been there, done that, and even added the new friction modifiers GM recommends. No change, but thanks for the suggestion.

Hey you guys seem to be on the path of fixing this front end vibration issue. There seems to alot of guys out there with vibration. Have any of you guys found something positively fixes the vibration? I have replaced the tires, wheel hubs, and I just don't want to guess.
