clutch switch?
see if you are getting power to your starter w/ a multimeter.

I have gone thru that recently also, my car not starting, there can be a number of things to consider, some of the guys already mentioned some, how about your main relay, your fuel pump or filter.
In my case it was the main relay, I was ready to replace the fuel pump, so better to check everything, and save money too.
Good Luck

seems like the obvious places to start are the starter, starter connectin, or clutch switch since the starter isnt even running..

i got the car to start by popping the clutch but what is causing it not to start without having to pop the clutch. when i turn the key it makes no noise at all no clicking , nothing at all. so i have no clue what it is

Try tapping the starter a few times with a hammer, if it starts up, then you need to start lookin in to a new starter. That might get you by for about a month, so if this is the case start sweepin the junkyards. Starters are normally fairly easy to install. I've had to do em for toyota's, hondas, and even a 1970 dodge colt, and as long as you ahve some light or are good feelin around in the dark it's a snap. 2 bolts and a couple wires.

Same thing happend to me, i thought it was the battery i charged it up and then still nothing. My dad told me to go out and tap the starter with a hammer, i was like what the hell, i went out there tapped it a few times and it fired right up. Try it

sounds like ur soldenoid on the starter is weak, usually on a bench test it will come up fine, but on the car under load it may strain and not turn over at all, also, u could have cooked a fusable link in ur starter wiring, check the wires from the starter and make sure there are no brakes in the lines

it wouldnt be the main relay, mine is bad and the car wont start when its really hot inside. But with it being bad it still cranks but just wont start. That reminds me i need to get a main relay.

dude, check the thinner wire that goes from ur harness to ur starter not the fat one that goes to ur battery. It sounds like that just popped off or isn't making a good connection.

just hit the middle of the starter, and hit it with a firm few taps but dont slam it. Your not gonna have very much room to hit it so youll know.
