Hey I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the transmissions in the 1993 grand ams with the 3.3 its and automatic. When ever i am coming to a stop when hte car shifts into first it makes a clunk and you can feel the car buck a lil just a litle bit not a whole lot.ALso when it shifts into any gear it kinda feels like the car slows down then shifts. Im thinkin that i might just have to replace the tranny that should be just awsome hahaha ya right.
IF ya know anything let me know

Hey when i come to a stop my car kinda wants to jump too before fully stopping , could it be my line pressure? It only realy does it when my jet pcm is on but sometimes after driving alot in town it does it without the jet on. Also get a slight split second lul on the 1st to 2nd shift change before the power kicks in and im sure its costing me some time. Any help?

My 96 has the same thing between 1st and second. Im wondering what it may be as well. My fluid and filter need to be changed, but im not sure if that will make any difference.

sounds like clutches slipping, possibly burned out, or it could be a shift selinoid prob. if youre having tranny probs and you dont regularly change your tranny fluid id suggest not doing it untill youve decided what to do . the extra grit in your tranny fluid may be the only thing holding your gears. id start by looking for any service bulitins about tranny slippage and go from there, you maybe in need of a rebuild.....if you go for the rebuild, check out www.levelten.com they could have a kit for you. piece

I would have to disagree and say change your fluid, just my opinon, but I'd get the tranny flushed and add a decent tranny fluid, sometimes that can make a huge difference.

Do the simple things you can do. Tranny flush is good if the tranny has been maintained all the time but in this case I doubt it.
I would just drop the tranny pan, replace the tranny filter. If you can get a rubber tranny gasket, the better.
If your tranny requires Dexron/Mercon III then use it, don't try to use any other tranny fluid.
I know dropping the tranny pan just remove around 30% - 40% of the existing tranny fluid. What you are doing is introducing little new tranny fluid at a time.
If the tranny fluid has not been changed for a long time and it has already created a varnish. If you do a tranny flush, all of the old tranny fluid is removed and new tranny fluid is introduced; but with that new tranny fluid it has so much detergent in it, it will clean out those varnish and instead, it will start to block passages and clearances are removed (dead tranny in no time).
Most tranny flush machine are reverse type and bad for the tranny seals (death for the tranny). Regular normal flow (in the right direction of the tranny fluid movement) flush machine would be ideal.
