ok, so im looking for sr20det engines. the site that AF gives, totaljdm.com sells it for $1400 from japan (duh) and on the specs it says that it come with an awd tranny. I dont know much about htis engine other than what ive read in this forum, so is this a good price? are there cheper ones? and is the awd tranny included or what?

bluebird is for the sr20det but ff not fr. Personally if you are going to get a swap, get a clip so taht you have everything e.g ecu, harness, etc. No matter what, you will fail emissions with the sr20det motor. All the specs should be in the FAQ. I believe it is 220hp. Pretty much there isn't a great deal with the s14 motor...more expensive and you only get like 10 hp i think. Go for the s13 sr20det.

Wow. Get your spoon, I'm about you feed you free information when most people will flame and ignore you. To learn everything you need to know about the SR swap, go to a company called HeavyThrottle. www.srswap.com.
Your 240Si will not be able to use the AWD tranny. That's for the Pulsar I think. You will need a SR from a S13 or an S14. Redtop or Blacktop. Rear wheel drive tranny. HeavyThrottle sells the entire setup for 2500$ plus shipping.
The SR makes about 200 horses at the flywheel. This means that the engine produces 200 horsepower, but due to the friction of your drivetrain and wheels, it puts down 170 horses "to the wheels." This means that if you measure a stock SR on a dyno, it will read 170 horses. "To the wheels" horsepower is what matters, because that's what your car is really making when it's all said and done. "At the flywheel/crank" horsepower is just bullshit numbers to make Viper owners dick's swell with pride.

Damn, I thought living in GA would greatly inflate the prices of JDM swaps, guess I was wrong. A shop gave me a price quote of $2500 parts and labour 4 a SR20, and $4000 for an RB25, and $6000 for a 2JZ-GTE. I think thats pretty fair.

yep, it's been done plenty of times. just search around some of the sentra forums and you'll probably find one
