350 is very doable, and need i mention, the 383 started as a 350, so youre still using a 350 as the base block.

Wasnt there a 608 by dodge in the 70's Winston cup? I think the road runners or the chargers.

why not a 400ci small block? If you want to go in that direction go for those huge 415, 427, 434, 454, or even the 472 small block. I myself am rockin a 350 till I get some more bucks to make a stout 383.

ridge_runner
05-15-2004, 11:21 PM
or of you have some real money go and buy yourself a motown smallblock, bore that bitch out to about a 454

I seen on the cover of a chevy magazine they make small blocks with 650 horse! Thats enough power to get your chassis up in a bunch now isn't it!

the absolute best small block u can get right now i would have to say is the 427 ls6. i couldn't believe it at first but they did manage to bore and stroke a sb to 427cu!!

89IROC&RS
05-16-2004, 06:40 PM
yeah the C5-R block for that 7.0L LS6 is bad ass. lingenfelter put a twin turbo version in a C5 vette, 0-60 in 1.9 seconds, quarter mile in 9.4 seconds. sigh... what i wouldnt do for one of those fuckers.

the c5-r complete engine w/ installation is like 28k, and the 427 twin turbo (700hp) is 50k... thats way too much... u can build an ls1 w/ a lot more power a lot cheaper, and they do have 427 stroker kits for ls1s.

You can get a Bill Mitchel 454 Small Block that makes 600HP for around $10K.

Hardcore 454 (http://www.theengineshop.com/feature0307.shtml)

My personal preference is the 502 BBC (got one in my '69).

to make a 427 sb u have to do more than just stroke it, it needs to be overbored a certain amount too. don't know how much tho...

-= c a m a r o =-
05-17-2004, 08:49 PM
i knew that... to stroke an ls1 to 427 u need a 4.125 stroke and 4.060 bore, u'll need to have it resleeved, its possible to get as much as 454 ci w/ 4.250/4.125. its definetely cheaper to resleeve an ls1 than buy a c5r block... u can make 3 ls1 427s for the price of one c5r. um and yes there is a replacement for displacement... technology... there is a replacement for carbs... efi... there is a replacement for hp... curb weight... i can keep going. theres a lot more to making a car fast than just power.

89IROC&RS
05-17-2004, 10:25 PM
lol, yeah but cubes are just so damn SEXY!!! and the C5-R is cubes WITH high tech EFI and performance. throw it in a low curb weight car, and go have some fun :)

why don't you just mount a rocket to your car??

p.s. nice car RallySport. I appreciate people with style, and not flashy bullshit.
