tranny problems

I have a 88 dx and it has a new stock engine in it. I am having trouble putting the car into first sometimes. I try to push it in but it doesnt go it takes a few thrusts to get it through. do you guys know anything i can do to fix this.

happens to me sometimes as well

you just have to put it in some other gears first

mabey new shifter bushings would help?
