Drop it -

Recently, I purchased 18' Mb motoreving rims. Tires are 235/and also 8 inches wide. BIG.

I also plan to drop the bad boy, but like always; I have concerns.

The way it is, the tires just fit in the wheel well, like if you put your hand in between the tire and bar behind it, its nearly an inch apart.

I want to drop it, no more than 2 inches, but Im not trying to spend 1,500 doing so.

Springs, Coil overs, struts, shocks and Camber kits - What do you think is best for my GSX(97). All I want is the lower look and a ride thats not too bad.

Please let me know what you have done, and if theres anything I gotta watch out for when lowering it. I dont wanna mess around cuz its AWD.

If you drop it more than 1.5 - 2 inches you'll want/have to get camber kit, shocks/struts... and coilovers for the dropping part....
I believe the bar your talking about doesn't change in distance from tire if car is dropped....
Drop it 1 inch .... with those rims thats all you'll really need.... my opinion ....

tokico illuminas are probably your best bet. you can get them with the tokico lowering springs in a kit for about $450. they also come in a coil over system, those are cool too. not sure how much they are, their not popular coilovers. if you dont want the ajustable illuminas you can get the basic dampeners with lowering springs for 350 or less. you wont need a camber kit from ingall or ebach if you dont lower your car lower then 2 inches. Apexi has a worldsport Coilover and damperner system thats preatty good too. their anywhere from 1200 to $600 on ebay stores. i'd stay away from KYB for the gsx, their a little to long for what you want, they wont lower as far as the illuminas. the Tein basic coilovers are nice for $650 or so. Koni are a nice and you can combine the koin and KYBs to compinsate for the ride hight, but why, right... i'd just go with Tokico Illuminas coilovers. 500-600 range, then you can set the stiffness levels and right hight to your personal content. thats my 2 pennies

eibach pro springs will give it a perfect look with 18's. check the link in my sig to see how low my ride is. i think it fits rather well, although i would like it a bit lower, and i would also like 19's...

i was just about to say the Tein super street. that's what i have on mine right now.. only ran about $1000 and it's 16 levels adjustable, rides pretty smooth too. :) if you're not willing to pay the extra bucks. the standard street version 'll be little cheaper.

Vince, how low is yours?.. cause i think mine's about your height. love that height :smokin: .. i would lower it even more but Boston's roads are like the surface of the moon. i already scratched some of the paint at the bottom of my front bumper :banghead: :crying:
