Swapping M20 for M30 (85' 325e)

Is this possible? I heard the M3 engine is overall better. I don't want to buy the vehicle, but was wondering if it would fit in my 85' 325e.(M20). I did a lot of search but came up short. Any suggestions/comments will help. Thank you.
