is there any way to significantly lighten the 3000gt without affecting it cosmetically.

Well, lighter rims, such as 5Zigen(17lbs) vs 35+ per wheel. Change seats for racing seats. CF hood. If you are really serious they have CF driveshafts(for a grand). basically evey 100lbs you lose you only shave .1 off your 1/4. So if you aren't serious about gutting your car and turning it into a race car, then maybe just lighter rims, seats, and take out your spare tire and jack.

dont forget about the front and rear crashbars, good for 75lbs, lightweight battery will save about 30 lbs, 3sx aluminum pulley, saves 5-6 lbs, but more importantly, its rotational mass. Remember this, for every lb of rotational mass you save, you free up 2-3 hp to the wheels

The most significant thing you will notice is if you get lighter rims and the CF driveshaft if you ever get money for that. That's 35 lbs of less rotaion spent to to turn the driveshaft Thats one of my first mods i want to do once i get my car all paid off. Hopeing by December the car will be all mine!!!
