Hello all,
Being the GM enthusiast that I am, I own two GM vehicles (a 2004 Malibu) and (a 2003 Suburban). Each has a key fob transmitter. I'm looking to keep from developing a "plumber's butt" condition (keeping my pants firmly up around my waist). My problem is that I'm carrying two key fob's around on my key chain daily.
1. Is there a way to synchro one car/key fob to the other car/key fob.. so one transmitter would work both cars? On a side note, it would be kinda cool to step out in the garage, hit the unlock button, and watch the synchronized light-flashing show.. That would be a good 2-3 seconds of fun (I'm easily entertained).
2. Does GM have a "dual" key fob -- a transmitter with a "car 1/car 2" switch that would work similarly to a universal tv/vcr/dvd remote type of thing.
3. Will I have to eliminate one of the fob's and go back to using an actual key on one of the vehicles? Or should I just purchase a good belt and just embrace "fashion uncoolness" at a relatively young 33 years of age?
BTW, regarding owning the two vehicles:
Each one has been very, very good. Neither one has needed a recall or repair of any sort. They've both been absolutely fantastic. Not a single complaint with either one.
Anybody feeling sorry for my two car payments can certainly drop me a response here & we can work out a means for donations to reach me. I'm surprisingly easy to reach when money is aimed at me. I'll extend that offer to anybody feeling sorry for me owning a Suburban when gas prices have hit +$2/gallon as well.

Actually if the keyless entry system for those vehicles was the same design you could program both to work with the same key fob, however I am pretty sure that the system on these 2 vehicles is different. Especially if your 2004 Malibu has the remote start system

I don't have the remote start & my fob's look almost identical. How would I go about reprogramming one of them? Is this a trip to the dealer? With gas prices rising again today, that belt is looking more and more attractive -- especially if it's wrapped around one of the rafters in the garage... nahhh, I'd probably get one of the cars dirty; and they're my pride & joy (well, after my kids -- but it's close on some days..)

Reprogramming requires a trip to the dealer. I will check if they are same system or not (since you don't have remote start on the Malibu).

Those are 2 entirely different systems. I have done the same thing for people with remote start remotes that I sell. In fact, my wife and I have one remote that locks, unlocks, and starts both our cars.

Is there a manual way to program the Fobs for the 2004 Malibu?
