93 CD Player install/Radio removal

Hello,

I'm looking to install an Alpine deck in my 93 Silverado. I have already bought the dash piece that lets the deck be installed where the cassette is now.

I am wondering how to remove the factory stereo and cassette player, and how to re-route the wires over to where the tape is now so I can hook up the cd player. Since I don't have a "cubby hole" yet for where the current stereo is, I might just leave it in but unhooked so I don't have a big honkin' hole in my dash.

If anybody has done this swap, or knows where to find info on it (Install Doctor has nothing...), let me know. Thanks.

Alright, what you do is take off the dash panel with the a/c vents and cassette player. The cassette player has two bolts holding it on, take them off and disconnect it. take the a/c vents out of the dashpanel and put them into the new panel. Now remove the dash panel under the steering column and look for a silver box above the gas pedal. That is the Radio Tuner Pack(RTP), take off the three screws holding it on, disconnect the wires and remove from vehicle. Next you take the wires that were connected to the top of the RTP and the antennae wire and pull them toward the hole where the cassette player was(they wont come out all the way they will just barely reach the hole as a matter of fact, but they do go far enough so you can connect the harness for your new stereo). now feed the harness and antennae wire through the new dash panel(the one that mounts the stereo) and snap the panel in. just slide the stereo in and you're done.
