i have no....fucking....idea what you're trying to say.
the rear bumpers? hell no! these are unibody cars, the rear ends don't just swap over. if you want just the bumper...well the coupe one won't fit on a hatchback, it's shaped different. but how can you like it better? it's barely different.
the front ones? they're the same damn bumper.
this is why i have no fucking clue what you're trying to ask us.
or maybe you're asking about S13 front ends?
i really don't know! please enlighten us!

ill try to clear it up
the hatchback front bumper looks like crap imo, but the ones on coupes are more outward and i saw a pic of a coupe bumper on a hatch. look at both models and the stock bumpers and ull, know wat im saying.

Okay so now i know what your talking about. It looks like you can do it, but you are going to have a hell of a time making sure you lines are straight.
Email the guy who did it before. And ask him how he did it.
It looks pretty easy but im not trying it.

i dont' think you can...i believe they are a different design...coupes more square out while hatches are more curved. But you can try it...i am not definitely sure if it can fit or not....i wouldn't think so without doing some modification

I think the pieces will line up i just dont know if it would ever be able to bolt on. I think you would have to fabricate a mount, but I own a S14 so I cant check out the mount on either.
heres the hatch i looked at:

like i said, the coupe is kinda straight where the hatch is curved. You would have to stretch the bumper to fit it on your hatch and it will probably look like the hatch you have on....

I Think he is talking about switching more than just the bumper. I thought he was talking about swaping everything in front of the quarter panels. Maybe we just still dont know what this guy is talking about.

If you are talking about the front bumper, thats because they changed the style between 1990 and 1991, Both the coupe and the hatchback were changed to the second picture.
You want the newer style front bumper, not the "coupe" front bumper.
EDIT: Nevermind you're not talking about the front you're talking about the rear. Forget what I said =\

ok lets just clear it up. If it is the rear bumpers, you have a hard time doing it IMO. If it is the front, most likely they are the same bumper however if you want to get rid of the pignose(89 90 models) for the newer bumper(91-93) that is easy and just needs to swap out bumpers and it doesn't matter between a coupe or hatch.

i am so fucking confused.
the front bumpers on coupes and hatches were ALWAYS the same as each other. they were never more "outward" or anything like that at all.
the rear bumpers? not even similar. wouldn't fit. but there's nothing special about the coupe one either to warrant a swap...
maybe he means the OEM lip?
JDM-180SX PLEASE try to clear this up for us. we're all stumped.
if you mean the little bit that goes lower on some bumpers (like in the first link that ironzpy posted), then that lower piece is detachable by itself and clips onto any bumper.
god i'm so lost...

ok so he has a pignose bumper and wants the newer version bumper....you have the 89-90 model bumper. You can get the 91-94 bumper and stick it on with no problems. Easy fit. If ya need one I got one for sale it is red. Make me a reasonable offer but shipping is a b*itch unless you want to pick up. But yea you can swap the bumpers if you want with no problems.

won't he need the headlights (or maybe just headlight covers) to make everything flow evenly?
vsiev
05-13-2004, 07:28 PM
everything is the same. I don't believe the headlight covers are different in size. if they are, then you would have to swap them out too. But i don't think they are different in size though...

there a differnt shape tho . the old ones have that crease beefore they drop downward. the new ones are smooth. it would look better. i don't beleive he'd need anything more that just the metal cover tho.

the only thing you need to change is the bumper itself.
the headlights, fenders, hood etc. are all EXACTLY the same. even the mounting points are identical.
just make sure that when you buy the newer bumper, that you get the bumper extensions that go over the bottom halves of the fenders.
the Chouki (newer) bumper is a bit wider then the pignose, and sticks out from the fenders. the extensions make everything flow. without them it will look dumb, trust me.

you won't need the turn signals if they're included with the bumper.

the metal headlight cover is definatly contoured different between the 89-90 and 91-94. look at the two pics.
89-90 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...2478592756&rd=1
91-94 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...ssPageName=WDVW
its no big deal, they couldn't cost more that $15.00 a peice. i'm NOT saying it won't fit, i'm saying its not contoured right so the lines won't flow smooth.
