France's Most Wanted

For English class, a few friends (including jcz1987 - that's Justin) and I made a short movie (just under 14 minutes) called France's Most Wanted. It's our modernized interpretation of Les Misérables by Victor Hugo (The entire "Fantine" segment without actually including Fantine, along with the chapter "The Ship 'Orion'").

The cast:
Jean Walsh - the not-quite-ready-to-host-TV guy that serves as our narrator. This would be Donovan.
Shopkeeper - Justin
Cop - Eun
Customer - Myung
Jean Valjean - the other main character, who the action focuses on. ME!
James - Played by Donovan, the butler replaces Madame Magloire and Mademoiselle Baptistine.
Monseigneur Bienvenu - The Bishop (Myung), mostly the same as in the book.
Detective Roger - Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do? Donovan again. Justin was originally going to do this (one of his many deleted roles - this scene was changed far too much).
Lieutenant Park - Eun as a traffic cop. Well, sorta.
Inspector Javert - Same as in the book. Has a cool hat. Donovan once more.
The credits got kinda screwed up because iMovie has issues with adding text for longer than 45 minutes and none of us thought of doing non-scroll credits until after we were done. Oh well.

By the way, we got an A+ on the project - 31 out of 30 if I remember correctly (again, 31/30, that's not a typo).

I've tried numerous upload sites and have not succeeded, so until then I'll be hosting it from my computer. You can access the movie at http://petescomp.no-ip.com/compact.mpg

The file is named "compact" because I managed to shrink it down to only 131 MB - still big, yes, but only about 1/5 the size it was before! The reason it's so big is that it's DVD quality, though at half-resolution.

So... what do ya think? Post here with your opinions and things... I'll try and leave my comp on for a few days, but nothing's guaranteed, sorry. Oh yeah, I've attached the script, as some parts of the movie are kinda hard to understand.

The next movie project we'll be doing (well, actually I'll only be in it as an "extra," but Justin is part of the project) is a Spanish movie entitled "La Hamberguesa del Noche" (The Hamburger of the Night) - if I can get a copy I'll try and host it as well.

Yes! This is a movie worth watching! Plus we start filming for our next film tommorow. Plus I'm not in the film that much as you see because I was mostly the camera man and I was the full time editor of the film.

You should make a two minute commercial for it.

If you'd like the script, it's available at http://petescomp.no-ip.com/LesMiserblesScript.doc

Sorry about slow downloads; I couldn't find anywhere to host so I decided to host it myself. Even with DSL, I still only have about 20 KBps uploads...

You will need the script because some of the voices are very soft. Especially during the Bishop scenes.

Mmm... I'd use the DivX codec, but I'd rather not have Gator shit on my comp. You probably could though (not sure if the Mac version has any spyware).

Alternately, I could just reduce the quality...

I'm sure you could use DivX and not get loaded with Gator...

Justin, check your PMs :p

Haven't watched it yet, but you should probably drop the video bit-rate down when you encode it in mpeg, and it'll really cut down on the file-size...
