Anybody know the towing capacity of a 2000 civic LX? :)

haha, with the torque of a civic, a packet of sugar and a magazine.

I can't find the data anywhere.

I would guess not much more than a small trailer to haul a dirtbike or something

2 or 3 hundred pounds. And even then, not for long.

Well the guy that owned my 90 prelude before me used to tow 2 1100 cc wave runners with it. So I knew how much that could do. I'm not going to tow anything with my civic, I was just wondering. My neighbor lady's van got stuck in her yard in the mud, and I was thinking about pulling her out, but I decided not to. Sorry for the silly thread, I was just curious. :)

Oh, well that's two different questions then. What it CAN do? Whatever the grip of thr front tires and clutch can hold. What it can do SAFELY, about 2 or 3 hundred pounds.

I have a 95ex, and the owner manual says "your vehicle is not designed for towing" Probably the same for 2001

Right the manual says "Not designed to tow" but what's the different between pulling a 500lb trailer and carrying 4 people in your car which comes out to more than 500lbs.

Here is the formula for the 2000 Civic Coupes:

Civic DX - Driver + 2 passengers. One to manually roll down the windows and the other to lock the doors

Civic LX - Driver + 3 passengers. One to sit up front and enjoy the power windows/locks. Two in the back to enjoy ALL OF THAT LEG ROOM!

Civic EX - Driver + 3 passengers. One to sit up front and enjoy the power windows/locks. One in the back to get cigarette burns on the seats. One to get cigarette burns near the sun/moonroof!

I've had me plus 4 passengers in my car, just cruising around. It was comfortable and didn't lag too much. About 700 lbs.
