Gas Milage

Hello everyone I have been looking at a couple of muscle cars lately and before I invest I would like to know how much they are going to cost me. I have a good idea of the cost of most things but I can not find a fuel efficiency rating for these cars anywhere.

What I am looking at are a 1972 Dodge Charger Rallye with a 400 cubic inch V8 (completely stock numbers matching) and a 1971 Chevy GTO LS also with a 400 cubic inch V8 (has 1969 Ram Air III heads) both have automatic transmissions.

If anyone can make an educated guess as to what kind of gas milage they would produce in the city and on the highway I would appreciate it.

A Pontiac GTO you mean?

If you're driving something like these things, you're not worried about what your gas mileage is, and it's also just about impossible to calculate due to the way these things are driven. You're probably gonna hit it at every light and murder the tires everywhere, right? The gas mileage won't be good...

Yes I did mean a Pontiac GTO, (I just copied what the guy was calling the car in the add before, but it is a Pontiac GTO)

And Actually I am a rather conservative driver, I would probably baby the thing most of the time, although I might go through a few tires at the track from time to time but I'm not concerned about gas milage there.

Just like anything else in life, you're gonna pay for a good time.

You want a hotter hooker? Pay the price!

You want a stronger drink? Dig deeper in those pockets!

You want a big car with a big motor? Get a well paying job! The gas mileage won't kill you, it might starve you a bit, but if you want a good time, it's well worth it.

I'm still getting by with my old V8's!

My '72 charger with a 318cid gets about 13 miles to the gallon. I've heard that the 440cid get about 8miles to the gallon... maybe that can help you.

Or was it 8 gallons to the mile? lol

I read in a book that the chargers got about 9 city, so I'd guess about 13-14 highway? (This is with the 440 engine).
