how to ger euro car to america

Can somebody tell me how to get my 92 toyota mr2 (euro spec) back to the states. Im in the us military and stationed in germany if that will help.

Ask a lifer - those guys who have been "in" forever. If they've been posted in lots of places you may find one who has had to ship a car or has dealt with getting a foriegn car to pass an American inspection. From what little I've heard, it may be easier/cheaper to sell it & buy another when you get home.

Personally, I never tried it. I spent my Navy time in Pearl Harbor & Hawaii has the world's best public trans system. I could go all over the island for 25cents and you don't get pulled over for drunk driving. Any place that Da Bus doesn't go is a place where sailors aren't welcome.

Yeah, without the fuel emission control garbage installed you may have a problem getting it licensed here.


Hey 59elcooldsuv: Not necessarily so about "Da Bus." I was a "local guy" that had many mainland friends in school. In fact, most of my friends in school were mainlanders...sort of made me a local outcast in school with some of the students. I never did understand that? We three local guys (and sometimes 3 girls) and two mainlanders (haoles) did everything together...hung around in school, went swimming, surfing, partied, or just being stupid teenagers cruising Waikiki ...had the best time of my adolescent life during '59-'62. And you know what, we still occasionally keep in contact after all these years. It doesn't seem that long ago. I live in Reno now with my "haole" wife of 34 years. But I do know what you probably experienced. I had similar negative experiences during my 5 years in the Air Force. Last time I went back for a visit with one of my high school friends and our wives, I noticed that the "locals" seemed to have mellowed-out somewhat. The change is probably because so many mainlanders moved there.
