I hope to pass on some information to those in need of tires and wandering what to consider.
I had some road noise I was worried about. I thought maybe a CV joint or wheel bearing problem; however, I got new tires and it solved it - needed them anyhow. I bought Phantom ZRX P225/50ZR-16's. I was a little worried about the brand and low cost - $85/ea, from Discount; however, I am very pleased with them. They look good and I feel like my car floats on the road now. The steering is now effortless. I must have been getting used to the poor performance of my worn out Generals, as it would follow any grooves or uneveness in the road and seem to fight pavement changes sometimes - not unlike those old 4-ply tires before radials came out. I was tolerating it needlessly for months. These tires have a bit of road noise, probably due to their agressive tread. I am impressed - Z-rated tires for a total of $368 installed.
Cheers,
Shawn
