What the hell is going on?!

alright...i put a few neon lights inside my car last week, drive around with em on at night cuz i think they look cool (i don't care if you don't, that's not what i'm getting at). anyways, last two nights i had an old guy in a pickup try to race me and a black camaro last night. i saved what little self respect i have left and did not race the camaro (would have been a disaster), just gave him the thumbs up and went on my way. but here's what i'm getting at...do neon lights really provoke anyone and everyone to try to race me all of a sudden or did i just happen to be in the right place at the right time two nights in a row?

Yep that they do. Any bling bling or flashy bits is like an open invitation.

They provoke races, or get you fined (depending on your local laws). Usually people with neon are slow, so its like a giant "kick me" sign.

To tell you the truth all the hate on neon lights came from the fast and the furious, because they just made it discraceful to have neons.

thye do provoke races by far. around my city a lot of people use neon lights so the cops just dont give a damn any more. p.s my car is not that slow lol. but they do provoke races because they think u may have something under the hood if you have flashy shiny thingies.

Umm deff. not, If I see a car with neon's they are
A. A girl...yea explains itself
B. A ricer...slow car,stupid shit on the car

Neon's are gay, they make the car look stupid I think. There is no need for them on the street. Everyone will probably think your car is a piece of shit and that it is slow.

So they only reason they want to race is to make you look stupid....

i think it looks nice with the right setup, iwas thinking about getting some, but i'd rather spend my money on other things

for ANYONE who knew anything about neons prior to that movie (i don't know that you even had a license before that), neons have been around for quite a while, and went way over the top far before anyone here knew what skylines were.

it's been a huge staple of the lowrider/sport truck scene, way back in the late 80's.

of course, some people did it correctly, and made it look pretty good.
other people ghetto rigged the neon.

this is the reason it's been getting a bad rap lately, b/c of the stupid ghetto rigged neon.

therefore, people see neons as ghetto/ricey, no matter what you drive, or how good the install is.

My friend put those stupid neon lights on his tires, you know the ones that go on over that air inlet thing(dont know the name of it). I think the lights are ugly but thats just my opnion you may like them and thats cool. Having been in his car both before and after the number of people that want to race him def increased alot.

Neons or any type of flashy lighting will definatly increase the amount of people trying to race you...more than 75% of the time being from another guy with more neon/flashy lighting...guess it's battle of who's car can really shine/glow :lol:

lol yeah for the most part neons are ghey. but if done right they can look pretty good. Like ive seen some cars with a body kit, and under the front bumper behind the grill they put a neon and the front of the car seems to glow, not overly bright but enough to look good. When neon lights are used to accent things they look good, when they are used to light up the ground underneath the car so everyone can see the huge oil stain your leaving, its ghey!

hahahah i don't have enough people tryin to race me. maybe i should put some neons on car, and rice it out so i can get into more races lolz

j/k but it would nice if more people would try to race me. i know i'm not the fastest, but i'm tired of racing the same people over and over again.

i always thought that street racers should try and make like a little code, like a sticker such as a dot something put on the bumper of a car, so that if your pulling up the light next to someone you know you could have a race on your hands. Far to often i pull up to a light stop at the line, look at the other drivers and think man no one here would want to race, i take off kinda fast and the next thing i know the 50 year old lady in the crown vic blows past me at 25 over (lol well maybe not a 50 year old lady, but someone that dont look interested in racing).

One thing we do often enough around here is look over to the other gyu/girl and laugh, when the light turns green, let him jump ahead and then put the pedal to the floor and go from there...or if you guy's/gal's got the windows down, just instigate him/her

instigating near detroit? not a good idea. I one time had this big black guy start swearing and cussing me out cause me and my buddies thought his 20inch gold rims were sweet. We were just lookin at them at the light and next thing i hear is, "What mother fucker? you got a problem" needless to say i just drove off and tried to get away from that guy. Way to many killings in detroit to start crap like that.

I have 3 solutions to that problem
1.Don't ever go street racing for the rest of your existance in Detroit
2.Always make sure you carry some type of projectile weapon ie.gun, taser etc
3.MOVE!

so, instead of running, say, "no, i like your rims".

back to topic i odnt get enuff attention ither.. all tho the apex-i sticker and my gunmetal painted factory rims do get a lot of stares..lol i tried racing this nice 01 celica, kitted down sound healthy but he didnt wana run he jus pull ove and let me pass by b/c i was on his bumper and my by pass was going off like crary so im guessing he was intimidated.. who would of taught i can intimidate other cars HAHA go me!

that definitely could be the case...the crazy fucking kid part is right, but i gotta avoid the cops for the next few months so i gotta cut back on racing the cars with 3x the HP and torque i do

Lol, YOU guys don't think you get enough play? Hell I have a 4-door sedan, no one wants to take me seriously. The only people that'll take me seriously are the people who know maximas are reasonably quick, and that's like only 10% of the population lol.
