Which red mark is it?

I changed my ignition timing the other day and found two possible ways to set it. One, the red mark on the crankshaft or the red mark on my dizzy. The dizzy has two red marks on it actually. One on the left part and the other on the right part. Which should I align it too?

igone the markings on the distrib and follow the instructions in that link jack posted. my distrib had white markings that was from chaulk and could be wiped off. on the crank pulley, the 1st white mark by itself all the way to the right should represent 1/0 BTDC and the 3 marks to the left of that first white mark are higher BTDC settings. make sure your car is idleing correctly before to set the timing

That was very helpful guys, thanks! You wouldn't believe the difference it made to making the car run better. When I checked it, it was like on the far left white mark. But doing this, I noticed a decrease in the large pinging that I had heard before. It's not as loud on the red mark on the crank pulley, but when I go by the red mark on the dizzy, it stops all together. What should I do now? I don't want to run it improper

hey, is your car mostly stock? if so then set the timing to the stock setting. do you know what the stock setting for your car is? or check everything out and tune your car until you like the way it runs!

Completely stock bone. It's just the pinging that makes the only difference between the two settings. I guess I'll go with the setting on the dizzy since it makes the most sense. If anything happens, I'll post. THanks alot!
