wiring crisis

well i just hooked 8 bulbs up in the front of my car at 1.5V but parallel, so I was wondering if i should hook the rears in parallel also, and then hook the rear to the front in series so it would be a total of 3V then use a 3V plug to run it. would that work? or would i end up raping sumthing?

i wired my HB in series. it was the easy way and the most eficient. parrallel is a bit more complex, but if you wired the front in parrellel then wire the back the same.

has any1 heard of a 1.5V plug? that way i wouldnt have to use a battery?.. cuz i have 8 lights in front alread and i plan 2 more for the back when i install the lenses.. thats gonna be quite a drain on the battery.

Can you tell us what a 1.5V plug is. I see your in canada. I don't know if that is just for that area but i don't know what it is.

lol i meant adaptor, sorry... i found one for 8 bux cdn, an AC adaptor that puts out 1.5VDC and its variable all the way up to 12V.. not bad i believe

here is the best way and easy. go to radio shack. get a small micro switch. cut a hole in the bottom for the switch. wire it in. for a battery use a 9v battery you can get a really small one for 2-3$ i had a small round 6v battery that powered 4 leds fine. wire your lights in a series. it is pretty easy to do.

my own preference is in parrallel. as it doesnt dim, if you wire a circuit in series it does not shine as bright as one that is parralleled.

I agree. I am an electrician by trade. It is far better to wire a load such as a bulb in parallel with others. Effectively then each bulb is connected independently of others and hence means that if one bulb fails the others keep working. If they are wired in series then if one bulb goes the rest go out because the circuit is broken. Kind of like Christmas tree lights (for those of Christian Faith). These are usually wired in series and if one bulb fails then you have to keep trying all of them until you find the one that is blown.

hehe, i hate those christmas lights, how much times did i have to do that one by one method :'(... well i kept it in parallel and bout an adjustable AC adaptor, and it seem that they are actually 3V bulbs lol.. looks very sweeet

When you wire it in parallel, wouldn't some bulbs be a little dimmer then the others as they aren't all getting the same current? Or is is just such a minimal difference that it isn't noticable?
