Help
My camaro has gone through 3 window motors in a year. is there something wrong with the windows? Is there some way to retrofit a bigger motor it the space?

and how do you get to the motor when I take off the door panel there is a metal sheet there how do you get around them?
thanks for the help.

It sounds like either you are cheapin' out and getting a generic window motor *go get one from GM
Or your window tracks could be binding up causing a lot of unneccasary stress on the window motor.. Check, clean, and lubricate all of your window tracks.. Clean the wiring harness connector with some electrical cleaner..

hmm.. all I can suggest
Where are you gettin' your motors from?

Im not sure how to get to the motor.. Ive never done it on a 4th gen..

Click on this great site for more info and pictures of the door panel removal. Click on the right hand side under R&R power window motor.

get a gm motor, remove door panel, remove most of the tracks, remove speaker (if it's like a bird) do some stretches and twist your arm just right and it'll come out. by the way the door is fiberglass so your arm will get itchy longsleeves help. almost lost a finger when a regulator unloaded on my hand once, had surgery to repair tendons and remove bone chips so BE CAREFUL!! hope i didn't scare ya.

glad to know i'm not the only one who was chopped up by a regulator! it was at the dealer where i work, so luckily they took good care of me. the motor was on cousin's black ram air, about a year later my wifes quit on her black bird, yes i was nervous but i did it. i drilled two holes in the regulator arms and used bolts w/ nuts to keep them from moving, worked well. last two days have been baffled by a hot no start problem on a BLACK 89 350tpi TA, do you see a trend here?
