2000 ss camaro, put about 900 miles on the engine
after having the ls6 heads and intake put on,
now in second gear the car has a slight miss
my buddy has a power programer, and he has
done something wrong trying to fix it, now
when i start it up, it will idle. but when
i give it gas it chokes and dies and the
check engine light is on.

yeah tell me about it. dont that programmer
have a return too stock option? the man
that installed the intake and heads set
everything from his labtop computer.
he wants $75.00 to come to the house and
set it back. but i believe that the air fuel
mixture is off.

yeah thats what it sounds like, and the programmers do store the stock data. my thing is did the guy store the data that was on the ecu from your car or from his. as in, if the programmer is his and he used it on his car, i would think that his stock info is in the programmer.

:banghead: i was the one that screwed up james's ss
i hope it didnt do any damage. i have a 01 sunset orange
ss its stock with 320 hp. james's car is way faster
than mine, but it was like it had a spark plug fouling
out. it could have been bad gas too. so im going
to go over to his house later and see if i can
get it right. i know he's going to kill me.... :uhoh:
if i dont fix it. i know it surprised me the first night
he had the car out after the mods were done.
we raced and i lost misserably :loser:

if it had a fouled plug then why did you use a programmer and change settings?
can you change fuel tables with that programmer?

well luckily it set the last settings in the programer
i plugged it up and restored the last configuration.
and the ecu is reprogrammed, and the check engine light
is off, im going to take the car for a quick spin up the road
to see if its fixed. :naughty:

:disappoin its still doing it it, runs fine until i give it alot of gas.
i think it needs a new set of plugs. this car aint got
15,987 miles on it. im going to pop the hood and check everything
out, has to be something loose. that mechanic that done the
work on it aint worth a dime. :smokin:

um, did anyone think to check the DTC's??????? its kinda what they are there for. not to sound like a dick, but shit, if the car is designed to tell you whats wrong with it, why would you ignore it and try to figure it out yourself????? i mean could be alot of things, trash in the fuel filter, bad fuel pump, maf sensor problems, map sensor problems, yadda yadda, run the codes, find out whats wrong.

my buddy found it. it was a spark plug wire, the
mechanic that put on the heads and intake
didnt put all my wires in the little holders. so one
has been on the exhaust manifold, it melted the
outside rubber and the insulation. the spark was
arking on the manifold and causing it to miss.
he said that he taped it up and the car runs fine.
im at work right now, he went over to my house a
couple of hours ago to check it out. but he said
i needed new plug wires.

fair enough, probly a P0300, misfire code, will stay in there till you have it cleared. but the light should stay off.
