Im in need of assistance...

hello all, i just joined this site. im 15 years of age and femalre, and i have an increasing interest in cars. i would like to know if any of you have any websites or book suggestions on how to understand the mechanics of cars and what makes them work. as of now, i am basically clueless.. but am eager to learn more. please private message me or e-mail me the suggestions if possible, cuz im probably not gonna be able to find this thread again lol. help is appreciated :)

a new technical article every month. Not all of them will impart new knowledge, but many are useful.

In many of those magazines you'll find ads for the publishers of books about "How to Repair & Tune (fill in the blank)". Many of them are great sources of knowledge.

Also, don't let the hot rod magazines baffle you with talk about reboring cylinders for larger pistons, or fancy induction...or any of that stuff. Engines are basically the same. Once you learn one engine, you can apply that basic knowledge to any other engine you come across. Learn the basics first before diving into more extreme modifications. If nothing else, just learn how to maintain your own vehicle. With that basic knowledge, there will be less of a chance of you getting ripped-off by being talked into an unnecessary repair by a dishonest shop. Boy, do I have some scary stories about that subject!
