340 whp, well done! So this was at only 21 psi? Was it race gas or pump gas?

KevinE326
05-11-2004, 04:15 PM
definetly want to know if you were on race gas... either way if you know what your afc-2 setting are I would be ecstatic to get em! cause i have almost the same setup...

Evo III Big 16g ported
evo exhaust manifold and o2 housing ported
apexi n1 all the way no cat
k&n intake with 1g bov
ngk plugs and wires
s-afc 2
J&E forged 9:1 pistons with bored 6 bolt

not completely race gas, the shop has some 98 octane to put in it, not sure where they get it, its kind of an odd octane #.

Hey is it good for ur car to run on higher octane? like at 104 for a 00 RS Eclipse?

EclipseRST

nice numbers!

now for everyone looking at this and that want these numbers out of a 420a N/T motor... your looking at close to 3 times as much money as Soyee7 spent!!! just keep that in mind when your thinking about turboing your motor!!! also when to come to that point you start to run out of performance parts to make your motor handle more power, like right now i am kinda stuck, thats why i am using nitrous, the next mod i can do is a Stroker kit... i have been looking into Intake manifolds but i cant find one that actually looks decent, like for performance wise, so i think i am goin to design my own over the summer!!!

I don't see the point.

did you go through hahn to get your setup? thats very nice for an rs :)

660cc injectors

With different size injectors, his settings are completely useless to you, unfortunately.

To make 340 whp on relatively low octane fuel (when I say race gas I usually mean straight 117 octane, since thats what most DSMers use) is something to be proud, for a relatively small setup! Sounds like it is well tuned. For reference Joe G on the posracing website did ~350 on full race gas (117) with a small 16g. And thats one of the higher numbers I've seen for 16g sized turbos. Well done ;)

You really think high low 13's high 12's? I know 300WHP's that do mid 12's...shouldn't this be around that fairly easily?

Import2nr99

here are my mods (almost identicle)

Ported EvoIII big 16g
3" Apex'i N1 (turbo back no cat)
Walbro 190 with 680 ball injectors
Ported stock manifold
S-AfcII
Injen intake
Greddy type-S
SBR/Kinetic FMIC

With proper tuning at around 21-25 psi, do you think I"ll have similar numbers? also how much psi do you think I could push out of this setup? Thanks

You are FWD though, usually a good half second differnce between a well setup FWD and your average AWD.

yeah, we did 6 runs previous to the final dyno to properly tune my fuel. my first run i only pulled 322WHP.

yeah dats the problem right... getting that 340 from the wheels to the pavement.... lol

Janet Reno

Didn't realise it was FWD. I can only imagine the torque steer on something with that much power lol

yeah, its pretty bad, once i get the LSD it will be a lot better

no i didnt go with the hahn kit... it costs way too expensive and the parts they give you are over pushing it for the cost!!! i built my own kit and i am about to start a kit for another guy who wants me to put a kit together for him then fly out and put it on... so for the cost efficency i have my car the way it is for around $5000, if i would have went thru hahn i would be more closer to $8-9000! so i figure i saved myself atleast $3000!!!

oh and for the torque steer comment... its really not that bad if you have power steering, like mine i can pretty much hold it steady although i have LSD, i dont know if that helps or not but i dont think its bad... i know on my friend has a hatch back civic with a h22(prelude motor) swap is without power steering and that thing has really bad torque steer, it takes your arm and throws it, but the motor is built and the car runs 11.5 too!

BoostedSpyder

damn those are sweet #'s! what was holding you back from boosting more? i thought you could crank up the boost a bit more than 21psi...

soyee7
05-12-2004, 07:12 PM
i will eventually, but i need a better fuel manegment system to tune it with, one thing that sucks is that i had to take out the A/C fan to to fit the WG. Any of you know where i can get a good slimline fan for a cheap price.

Import2nr99
05-12-2004, 07:49 PM
do you have an external wastegate? mine fit in fine. For the fan try prostreetonline.com or RRE. I think they both had them for a diecent price. might even wanna try ebay. sometimes there's good stuff on there. Good luck and great numbers! I hope I come close to that!
