Where is the cheapest place to get 04 4runner replacement transponder keys. The dealer wants 50 for 1 key, 50 to program it and another 100 for the remote.
I have seen 03 keys out there. Will those work? Also instructions are out here to program for 03 models. Are those the same?
Thanks
Spoke to Dealer they said there are new programs in the 03-04 models that will not allow you to program the keys yourself? Your stuck paying the $50 key and $50 program fee.
IS this True??

Unfortunately this is true. And right now no aftermarket keys are available. You'll have to just suck it up, or possibly find an automotive locksmith that has the equipment, you may save a little bit, but not much.

Have you tried looking for a remote at Ebay. I bought my extra one for my 99 4runner for $15. I think they are the same, but you do need to the dealer to program it at the same time when they program the new key for you.

Where do you live?? If you are in So California try this place :
http://www.steelesecurity.com/transponders.htm
They said they could do a key and program for $45.
I haven't been able to get there yet , but when I do I'll let you know if it's for real.

Remeber, you have to have a master key to able to do that, anything else wont work. Whoever you take to, will remind you of that right away.
