I usually need to clear that paint with several coats and then polish it out before I get a good finish with it. I like the project!!

i ment that the paint is a bit crapped, some furows suddenly appeared :(
it's NFSU inspired 'cause i build it just the same in the game, just wait till i applied the decals which might take some time as i am thinking of renewing the paintjob

yeah i noticed the furrows and i guess i didn't realize what you meant by decals so now i understand, i think if you apply the decals and add A LOT of clearcoat and polish it out its hould be ok. good luck. :icon16:

You may have sprayed either too much primer or too much paint. I had that problem when priming my FD's chassis. After a few overly-thick coats, huge cracks appeared in my primer. They didn't appear for a day or so, so I was glad it was only on the interior. Had it been on the body, they would have cracked under my paint, leaving it looking like yours. That's all I can think of... the primer cracking under the paint (somehow)... Who knows, though.

I like the blue paint. Is that a shift colour? Seems to become green at another angle. Reminds me of the Nokia 6110 with shift colour near similar to yours. :)
Orion37170
05-11-2004, 02:32 PM
@willimo: that really maybe the cause.....will try it again with another primer and try to make lighter coats
@shieldwulf: yes it's shift colour, or prismatic or however it's called in english, it's named "scarabeus" by AlcladII, green to blue; the nokia 6110 was my first cellular ;-), thought of it to, when i saw how the paint came out

Tried to polish them off but wasn't satisfied. So i put the body into some NaOH and now it seems as the paint is completely stripped off.
When have repainted it i will show some pis of the "new" version ;)

But unfortunately both lkits haven't arrived yet, so i will add the engine later

The second one is the RB26DETT, the Skyline engine. I would choose the SR18DE, but HLJ has the kit in backorder.

neither of those kits has a SR20 in it. the cefiro has a RB20DET, and the R32 skyline has a RB26DET.
both are sixes. to my knowledge there is no kit that has a 1/25th scale SR20 in it.
laters, WIDE

Meanwhile i cut the hood off. Will build an undercarriage as soon as i found some pics....

Nice car! but I dont think the Spoiler suits it. Nor do those 120mph spoilers fit anything other than race cars.

I wouldn't put this spoiler on my 1:1 car, but as I want this model to replicate my car from nfs-u i put it on

the RB blocks are another upgrade that drifters do sometimes put in their RS13's. The RB20 is not a good idea though, cause the weight of the 6 cylinder isn't worth the small increase in power that it provides.
Another option which is a little out there but will work is to get a Tamiya 300ZX and use it's detailed VG30DETT. The S12's were available with the VG30-E as a factory options, and i've seen real life S13's with everything stuffed under the hood from a twin turbo 340 HEMI to a supercharged 350 chevy. Another option would be to go ahead and grab a RB20, shorten the block and make headers & piping from soldier. check out ebay motors for people selling he SR20's to find some good pictures of the SR20 outside of a engine bay.
Whichever you go with, I think it would look hot to paint the valve cover the same as the body color

read the directions on the alclad it says not to worry if it has a matt finish, you need a lot of clear

the problem wasn't the shine, it was the deep scratches on it. But i found the fault. It was the wrong primer. After stripping all the paint of and making a whole new paintjob i am quite pleased with it. Unfortunately i only have a mirror reflex camera
Body is ready: paintjob and decals...
working on interiour and enginebay. Today i started work on some racing harnesses....
and no digital one so it always takes long lading up actual pics....

Oh and some another tips.... paint the engine compartment a different color, like red with a little overspray of the new body color around the edges. This will be up to par with how most 240's I've seen are repainted.
When motors are shipped from the far east to other countries, they have to go through a hold period and be fumigated due to a fungus which will grow on them during shipping. (I wonder if this is why all the models I get directly from japan smell funky) For this reason, most imported nissan engines are steel in color cause the paint and oils are stripped in the processs (do japanese companies even paint engine blocks?)

I believe the reason for the red is that in america theres a urban legend that red sports cars have higher insurance rates put on them, and that cops will pull over someone in a red car before they pull over someone in say, a white car, who's doing the same thing.
If you've installed an illegal engine and removed smog controls, and are out there drifting or street racing, the last thing you want is excess atention.
So the story goes that people are more likely to repaint a red car then one of another color.
I don't know how true it is, but I know my red one isn't staying red!
