you want the engine rebuilt because it has 70,000 miles?

yeah dude 100k aint nothing on a properly maintained 420a. granted it does go on a case by case basis.. but you should have no problem getting many many miles out of an eclipse with 100k if it was properly maintained and you continue to maintain it

this one guy has his 96 eclipse rs in the paper and it had 136k miles on it ... he said he rebuilt the head and put new belt and plugs in it...
he wants 2,300 for it ... is it worth it ..... thats why in asking...
but one of the main questions is what needs to be replaced in a rebuild?

probably wants to get out of it because it is an rs, it does seem low for an rs though. My suggestion would be to wait and find an gst or gsx if your looking for performance, you will be much happier in the long run, trust me, I use to own a gs, then I sold that bought a gst, and now I am selling that and buying a gsx.
As far as getting the engine rebuilt helliviknow is right. You shouldnt need a rebuild on an engine with that kind of miles. My gs had 136,000 when I sold it and the guy that bought it drives all the time so it has many many more miles on it and he hasnt had any problems yet. Just goes down to how well it was mantained.

well it depends what you are rebuilding it for. are you planning on putting a turbo on it or are you planning on keeping it stock? If you just want it as a daily driver and arent highly modding it it should be fine. make sure he has proof of the rebuild but the 420a engine is damn strong and 2,500 or a 2g hit it up.

look hard online and in the paper for a used gsx. mileage on a 95-96 is gonna be between 80-110k. As long as the engine is maintained you'll be ok.
check the vfag for more info but make sure you take care of the basics... oil, timing belt, plugs.. i'd prob do a compression test just because if you could.
worst case find one with a blown motor and order a new one from buschurracing.com or someplace like it... unless you want to rebuild it yourself/have a local do it.. then you'd be like me!

high mileage for an eclipse is 200,000 miles but they still run, so shit why are you worring about 100,000? :iceslolan
