Ok , So I removed MOST of the a/c system , condensor ( which is less than 2 months old ) tank , r-12 charging systems , Lines - Everything is brand new. However I wannted more power and less stress so I removed all the A?c system but the compressor . Now the question is..does anyone know a belt brand and # for my 92 RS that will work on the car just fine ? remember , I want the compressor gone so I need a smaller belt ..any suggestions ?

the ac will free up any, if it does it probally
wont be like be 5hp. my brother took his smog
pump off power steering and ac, no difference.

uh, why did you remove the AC system? it doesn't use any hp unless the AC is on and the compressor is locked up. buy anyway, you'll have to use a string to get the approx. lenght of belt then go to the parts store and get a belt the same size. might take a few belts till ya find one that fits

the more things with connection to the crank pulley that requires power and stress to turn eat hp. PLus it's a waste I never use it and I don't want it in there.
It's got a 350 4 bolt.

with the compressor off, it's essentially an idler pully. no hp gain is going to be achieved by removing it, but hey it's ur car. and unless you've removed the smog pump too, i'm not even sure a it's going to work. with the smog pump still on, i think the belt might rub against the top side of the water pump when you release the tensioner. but if you insist, you might try getting a belt from a late 80's, early 90's truck. trucks came with the option of AC, and most of em dont use a smog pump. just make sure when you re-route the belt that all accesories are turning the right direction

actually i pulled the a/c on my 3.4 and it did wonders. there was a little horsepower difference, enough that you could feel, but the huge difference was removing the freakin intercooler. it was seriously good for a ten to fifteen degree temp difference...

Since I have an automatic , I figured it would be a good idea to replace the cooler for the A/C with a heavy duty ultra kool hayden tranny fluid cooler =D , I've noticed over a 15 degree temperature change. Mine stays about 155F now. Not too shabby considering it used to constantly ride 200F +
All the cars I have removed the a/c systems from have shown improvement. Anywho , Love thy camaro more than life.

Haven't managed to locate a belt yet but I got some leads from autozone and they are looking into some companies that 'special' make belts or whatever. We'll see. Going for dyno results as well before swapping belts and removing the pump unit.

Just ordered a new set of custom MSD wires , MSD dist. cap and a hypertech rotor for the dist. I hope this also improves my spark output to the bosch plat's 2 I put on. Also a gm blaster MSD coil..next step is the 6AL MSD Ignition system =D
