HVAC blend door not working

Can anyone tell me I have a 96 Lesabre with the standard push button climate controls. It is no longer allowing me to regulate the hot/cold temp. A buddy of mine adv me to replace the blend door motor which I did (no change). Is their going to be a module that actually send the signal to power up the blend door motor? If so can you tell me where it maybe located? To have cold air I had to "prop" the door open and disconnect the rod that moves the door
