Well, im of course thinking of swaping my engine in my 90' 240sx. I honestly have little to no knowledge of cars etc.. just know a few things..

Anywho, i went to www.heavythrottle.com i think it is, and saw they sell engines etc...

To the question, should i buy their $4700 kit or just the engine and my own parts?

This is the kit: http://srswap.com/shopexd.asp?id=749

Is the kit worth it? Or will i end up having to buy most of it.. for example the pipe-ing for the turbo?

I know i want a boost control, along side with a new intake (maybe injen's intake?) And then slowly upgrade the engine peice by peice.

I say for for $4700, slap on an LT1 and you will never have to worry about boost again LOL :naughty:
But it seems kind of pricey just for parts, not including labor, got a shop down here in ATL that said they could get me an SR20DET and install it too for between $2200- $4000. they had an RB25 240 that they say they charged the guy $4400. the car was tight except he had blown his turbo and was getting a new one put in.

SR20DET Clip = 2500+$ at Neilshinmotors (sites down)
HKS Mild Downpipe=190$
Exedy Clutch =400$
Greddy Profec B = 350$
Apex Power Filter = 115$

the reason HTs package is so expensive is that they have a ton of other stuff thats not really nessicary if you have a full clip. Like Gauges, Intercooler (V-SPL), Fans, Radiator. if you only have a motor set most of it will end up being nessicary ( or atleast make it less of a pain in the ass)

a member on this board claims to be able to put a RB26 with the twins in for 7500 including IC.

I'm stuck on a rock what to do lol. Basically, i dont want to end up spending 8g's on a freaking engine swap. Nor do i want to give my car to some1 who's never swapped a sr.. into a 240sx.. The kit looks tempting in it's own way, but 4700g's plus their 1600 install is a little more than im willing to dish in right now. 6300 in total if i do it their way all the way. Sounds over priced. Way over priced.

This is my first time hearing about the CA.. from the name, sounds like a lesser grade of engine, but what do i know? So what is the CA18 from? What car i mean.

Well just checked it out, it's basically 15hp over what i got now.. And then needs a turbo for that. I still like the sr20det, not bad. I also like the 300zx's twin turbo, but too many cuts for that.

Is it true i'll have to go find parts to make the sr20det work? Due to the fact my A/C wont work and steering fluid reservoir has to be moved which needs parts too?

So i'm guessing im completly better off with a clip? and then just replace the parts peice by peice with newer ones?

a front clip is the best way to go IMHO. but you urself are going to end up paying more than some people because you are going to have to buy from a shop instead of having a connection. My friend and I are swapping in a 300zxTT into his N/A Z and the front clip has everything we need, even though it is good to replace old parts before install.

the ca is a 1.8 liter turbo dual overhead cam engine. you can get that just from then engine code

ca18det
CA- series of engine
18- equal to 1.8 liters
d-dual over head cam
e-electronic ignition
t-turbo

ka24e
ka-engine series
24-2.4 liters
e-electronic igntion

rb26det(t?)
rb-series
26-2.6 liters
d- dohc
e-electronic igntion
t(t?) twin or single turbo, not quite sure which

anywho, my lesson of the day is done, good night
