Can anyone help, I recently had to replace the "Key Switch" in my daugthers 90' GC. Every thing was fine until I installed the steering wheel and found that it is very loose where the spline shaft goes thru the bearing inside the housing. The bearing is fine and every thing else is ok, ie steering etc.

you forgot to put the lock ring back on when you put the outer cover back on?

Or, you didn't put the plate back on properly for the combo switch?

It's those damn small parts that fell on the carpet when you weren't looking!

The lock ring is on and secure.

I beleive the backplate is on properly, the turn signal cancel cam fit in place without a problem.

No part left over....

Anything else?

I don't have one apart in front of me, but I have had that problem with a couple of the columns and I've always found that it's a part I missed or installed wrong... But, I have had the lower bearing fall out down where the column goes into the rack joint.
Another thing is the star head bolts that hold the tilt mechanism in place.... They come loose over time, but it's the whole front housing that moves, not just the steering shaft....

I wish I could be more help. I'll look at the parts break down when I get home and see if I can help further,

Thanks, Ithink I found the problem. The inner race of the stg column brg will not stay in place. I don't see anything that will hold it it so I'm making a thin flat washer to so under the spring.

Thanks for your input,

Bob
