Just brake pads for 16" wheels on '95 GT (rear)

I see lots of brake kits discussed, but there is no way I'm affording one any time this decade. My rears are starting to squeal just a hair; I'd been warned that they were getting a little thin. If I'm just replacing pads, who's the best bang for the buck? I'd like to improve performance a bit (or more than a bit) if I could. Just a street driver.

Pep Boys/Autozone/Schuck's/etc.
Baer (SBC?)
Performance Friction (these are carbon metallic; do I need ceramic?)
others?

I'm assuming running down to my friendly Ford dealer is not a good option.
