i went to start my blazer tonight and it took a sec to catch, like it hesitated to start.. like old trucks do on cold days. Well i told my bf and he reved it a few times and warmed it up then i said UH OH i smell anti-freeze. Sure enuf its dripping out (only when running and sorta warm like 205degrees) from back behind the engine.. between the tranny and the engine really. It isnt the radiator bcuz its so far back, it doesnt look like its any of the radiator hoses (upper and lower anyway) and i looked @ my valves and head and it isnt leaking there. What could be a reason my truck is leaking anti-freeze when it warms up? It doesnt leak when its sitting shut off...

where exactly is your antifreeze leaking from if you can tell. You might want to check your radiator cap for small cracks. when the truck is warming up it might be spewing the antifreeze through the cracks which would explain why its not back by the radiator.. this is just a guess

its probably a hose, engine oil goes in one hose to the radiator, and through another hose comes the antifreeze, turn the engine on and try and get underneath your blazer and try and see if you see antifreeze spitting out from anywhere

i had a problem like this but it was with oil leaking, i was driving down the road and my check gages light came on and i started smelling oil so i pulled into a parking lot and looked and there was oil inside my engine and all over my tires it was crazy. what happened was a hose underneath by my oil pan had frayed away from the metal connector. this is the only reason i reccomend trying and finding if it shoots out of any loose connections

Check your heater hoses and heater core.
Make sure the overflow isnt over flowing.
You say its in back of motor and behind drivers side wheel?
Freeze plugs been checked?
I would first check heater hose connections.

Take a mirror and flashlight and check all four corners where the intake meets the heads. This would be the intake gaskets leaking. You should see residue where it is coming out.
Leaks alot only when warm because the pressure inside the cooling system rises as the engine warms up.
Check those spots for the leak, along with any heater hose connections on the top of the engine and around the thermostat.

I would first check heater hose connections.
The heater core is on the passenger side though. So it couldnt be that.

Huh, My 93 s10 needed a heater core too. Was leaking inside the passenger comp and fogging up the inside when trying to defrost.

Could be your freeze plug, I had that happen. Or it could be the head gasket if you have an aluminum block, had that happen to.

If it's hard to pinpoint the leak. Take the driver's side tire off and look throught the wheel well and you should be able to see the freeze plug. It leaks at different temps due to the different rates of heat expansion of the 2 types of metal(freeze plug vs. engine block).
