Installing Alpine head-unit in 96 Honda Civic EX

The thread title says it all. I'm considering buying an Alpine CDA-9827 and I need some questions answered about installing this head-unit. 1) Since the H/U is 1 DIN, and the radio takes up 2 DIN, do I need to buy a kit, or what? 2) Will I have to bypass the keyless entry system? 3) Will it be hard to install all of this?

http://www.streetdreams.com/tech/honda/civic9698.html this is how you bypass the keyless system. you will need a kit and wiring harness for the install. shouldn't be too hard of an install except for the keyless part.

If I do do this bypass, the sound quality will still be of the Alpine head-unit's reputation, correct?

OK, where could I get the wiring harness to do the bypass? Radioshack, Bestbuy, or somewhere else?

What type of wiring harness am I looking for? Honda specific? Alpine manufacturer specific, or what? (Last question I think lol).

yes, it is for your car specifically, and it should also be a keyless entry one.

What if I put in an Alpine CD Changer? Would I be able to control it with the radio in it's DIN space, and still have CD capabilities with great sound?

do you mean put the cd changer in the dash? if you do that would be pretty hard to do, although it can be done. i am not really sure how though. if you mean just having a changer along with the headunit then i would say that it would still sound good. i have a cd changer with my factory unit and it sounds good but i don't like it because it is in my trunk and it is more of a hassle to change it than if it were only one cd player in my dash. i would say if you get one put it under your seat or the passenger one. hope this helps

Yah, I wouldn't have put it in the trunk since you have to have access to it to change the CD, but I'm just throwing ideas around. I'm really considering buying an Alpine CDA9827 from CircuitCity and have them install it. Think I should go that route, or should I go for installing it myself?

if they do it for free then go for it, but if they don't then you should do it unless you are able to afford it or do not have the tools or knowledge to do the install yourself.

So If I did get the Alpine CDA-9827 H/U, what accessories might I need to install it myself? I know I'll need the Keyless Entry System bypass wiring harness, but I don't know if I'd need a deck or even a DIN kit?

you need this little package that comes with the plastic peice that goes around the headunit also. they have these at best buy or circuit city.
