just wondering does anybody knows how much boost the ztt engine can handle in stock form. i heard 14psi but a friend told me that it can handle more if i was to get a big intercooler.

Well depending how you drive it could probably handle quite a bit of extra boost or not much at all. If you plan to run this car really hard with alot of extra boost then I would tear the motor down and rebuild it first. If your just going to be cruising with the occasional top end push then it will probably be fine. And let us remember that the stock 9 psi is still really quick and you probably won't go too far over that even if you are racing.

Bottom line: Probably nothing over 15 psi providing that you don't whip the engine too hard. You want to run big boost and not have your engine explode, well, got to pay up for higher quality pieces.

Come on, man...no offense, but don't be stupid and blow up a perfectly good ZTT cuz you're cheap. I wouldn't go over 12 and, if you even take it up that high with no mods, DON'T DRIVE LIKE A MAD MAN. They're solid cars, but everything has limits. DON'T BE A MURDERER!

Full engine rebuild with forged bits is expensive but needed for the next big step in horse power. Also this might come in handy.

44 PSI of boost is something you go to hell for right?

You won't see that insanely over the top boost level in a VG save maybe a one off project car, because WRC motors don't have to last that long. But the prospect of running more boost with lesser to no chance of detonation is mighty interesting...still build the motor up to be safe, VGs are hard enough to find as is.

That's cool as shit. I've heard of that before, but never actually got the gory details of it. Sounds like a definate MUST for any serious car. 14psi on 91 octane is damn awesome.

P.S. I couldn't exactly remember the name of that magazine...been wanting to subscribe for a while now...thanks for the link!

so a 300zxtt shouldn't go above 12psi stock for racing without building up the motor? please educate me on this because this is my second fav car i love these cars, and i thought you could go up to 14-15 psi with a boost controller and that is that.

D'OHHHHHHHH........you know what.....I was thinking of the Z31.....what a brain-fart.... :screwy:. All in all...you'd probably be ok up to 15psi, but I would kinda keep my foot out of my carpet except for short stabs on hot days until you upgraded your intercoolers. Detonation is baaaaaaad. Also, make sure you're running the highest possible octane fuel you can get your hands on....until you get your Aquamist kit...... :naughty:

This (http://store.yahoo.com/sgpracing-store/9096nis307.html) link describes it all in detail. It says you can go to 15psi with out upgrading your intercooler or anything (with just an intake and exhaust and so on). I was thinking about the Z31 before....those shouldn't go over 10-12 psi without only an exhaust and intake.

My bad.....
