93 Century door lock problem

I have a 93 Buick Century and the driver's side door and trunk will not open with key. This began after locking keys in car by mistake and having a person open the door on passenger side with hanger. Passenger side door works fine. Locksmith says that a new lock may have to be made whcih means ripping off the driver's side door and also the trunk to get at the locks. Could this problem be electrical? Is there anything else I could try before spending $200 to get new locks installed? thanks in advance for any advice.
