OK here goes....
Dealer replaced head gasket recall at 152,000 miles. While it was there, they called and I got the "replace the timing belt and pulley, water pump, coolant sensor coolant tube (under intake from front of engine to rear of passenger head) main seals, oil pan gasket....cost extra about $650. Got it back running rougher than hell...took it back, they said they found a "corroded plug on an injector" and gave it back to me. Got about 200 more miles out of it and BANG....driver side timing pulley threw the ring (the one that keeps the belt from slipping off forward) Took it apart, replaced the ring, and put back on. Rechecked 5 time to make sure timing belt was aligned correctly and that distributer was in correct position. Now when it starts...it idles rougher than it did be for and all I did was remove the cover to the belt. I rechecked all my connections EVERYWHERE and also ALL the fuses. It is not throwing any codes, and when I give it gas??? NOTHING....doesnt even rev up at all. I put it out for sale and had a guy interested until all this happened. I checked for correct fuel pressure, and that is good to. The coil seems to be putting out and at the dealer they did the standard pl ughs and wires too. Called an import repair shop and they said to check the connection at the computer. Hmmmm...cant find a computer anywhere on my 1990, only the relay/fuse block under the hood. It ran fine before all of this, a little rough here and there, but strong. What am I overlooking here??? I am baffled and the Haynes book is of no help either....any suggestions???

My suggestion is for you to go to www.ripoffrevenge.com or the www.badbusinessbureau.com and learn how to make that dealership good on their repairs. If you didn't have such problems before they "fixed" your 4-Runner, then THEY are responsible to make it right. Don't let them get away with it! Don't try to do any more repairs to your car until THEY make it right, or they'll be blaming the problem on you or someone else. I speak from personal experience of long ago when I worked as a line mechanic, service writer, and dispatcher in a Volkswagen and later a Pontiac agency. From what I've been personally involved in with mechanics, portable engine machining, and on-the-road mechanic repairs,...too many shops don't know what they're doing, are rip-off artists, or just plain crooks. For your benefit, I hope that this shop isn't one of them!

Is it possible for the speed control to make a buzzing noise at a certain RPM. I have a strange buzzing noise resonating through the left side of the dash right at 1900 RPMs.
