Sluggish Tach

I just noticed tonight that my tach on my 99 is delayed by about a half second or more. Like if I give the engine a quick shot of gas...the rpms rise as the engine is winding down. Now that I noticed it, it's bugging the shit outta me. Seems to be working perfect other than that. Is there a problem...or is that just how they are?
