I recently installed the above unit on my 1997 Talon TSI AWD and i find it to be rather easy to install and to adjust... only a few small questions...I know set boost... and i know about gain.. but SET GAIN (or start boost) is a little fuzzy...First off my settings are, SET 26%, GAIN 27%, SET GAIN 23... In the manual is just says the closer the SET GAIN is to the SET the faster the spoolup will be... but if its too close boost will spike...How close is close? 5 10 pts? also is the SET GAIN suppose to be lower or higher than the SET? also the SET GAIN is not in percent.. so if i am suppose to get it close to the SET for fast spoolup that means 30 SET and 25 SET GAIN? Also i got a CEL (check enging light) after I installed my controller... do i just have to unplug the old BCS? I have a Injen Intake, Greddy Intercooler Pipe Kit, and a Greddy Type-S Bov, and the stock T25 Turbo.. Anyone who is familiar with this controller and is also running the stock turbo.. tell me the settings u use and any other part u can help me on... thanks alot

Also... boost seems to come strong and fast, but then levels off at higher rpms.... so i keep raising GAIN.. and lowering SET... to hold boost to 6k or so where it should... Should i keep going? I dont want to get too crazy with it yet till i do some posting... and spend somore time with it.. And I am currently not running a boost gauge besides the controller itself...The thing is dead accurate right? i was thinking about getting a gauge in here fast to help with tuning...(plan on getting some soon) or am i ok?? thanks again

what turbo do you have? a lot of times stock turbo's just have a hard time holding boost until redline, exspecially if you are using the T25 and trying too boost over 15-16psi!

Yes i am running the T25.... but the T25 makes power up to 6k.. redline is 7200... i am pretty sure it should hold 15 or so at 5500-6k

from what i have heard and read that it starts to drop around there... so it might not be the controller... i think its time for an upgrade, if you want a good turbo that will be able to hold that, get the 14b... cheap and worth the money, exspecially if you sell the T25 and put that money towards a 14b you would probably only have to pay $25-50 more!

Its just that boost comes on hard and fast... then levels off right after it peaks... i dont think my bov is too soft either... its set rather hard... ill do somore playing with it.... but more input on those questions would be nice to keep it comming people! =)

What did you do with you BCS when u installed the greddy electronic solenoid unit.. unplug it and take it out? cause i had a CEL after i installed it... but after i forgot to turn the light off in my car the CEL went away... which is cool.... also when boosting i hear a clicking noise... is this the old solenoid? the greddy book says the valve does make noise... and i was just curious

alrighty then. i think you have your Gain too high and your Set too low. i had mine with no [SMIC only]intercooler [basicly the same as your setup]. i was told that set gain does nothing for our setup because it keeps the WG closed for longer to keep spooling faster. the t-25 spools so fast anyways that is is unnecessary [pre FMIC]. my settings were nearer to this:

LO: 1.0 bar
set: 30
gain: 20 or so [adjust down if it spikes and up if it creeps]
set gain: 0 [i tried it all over the place an noticed no differences untill i got my FMIC, now it is like 12 or something with the t-24 GReddy FMIC]

HI: 1.2 bar
set: 38
gain: 13
set gain: 0

i leave the peak hold on and set the warnings at like 16 Lo and 18 Hi. the highest i ever got the turbo was like a spike at 22psi just fucking around :naughty: i can honestly say there is no difference running anything 17+ psi., only that the boost drops of that much quicker.

try those settings and see what happens.

in the one above i forgot to finish my sentence about the CEL i had from the profec install... i didnt unplug the old BCS or ne thing... and i had a CEL right after i started my car with it installed.... but i meant to say i left for a day and left the light on in my car... it drained my battery totally and when i jumped my car the CEL wasnt on and hasnt come on since... pretty ez and accidental fix.. haha

Also i would like to ask you guys another question while i have ur attention... I have a buschur 3in turbo back exhaust with high flow cat.... I am expecting boost creep right away and am thinking about just taking the o2 housing off with the exhaust install and porting the turbine and wastegate outlets and porting the 02 housing itself...think this is nescescary? from what i read i am pretty positive i will get creep....
