94 Taurus SHO

My friend has a 94 SHO, one day we got in the car and started it up. The check engine light came on and the tachometer would not work, but the engine was running. Then it sputtered and cut off. It kept doing it, when we finaly got it started, and drove it home the tachometer was not working. Any ideas? Alot of sensors, and emissions stuff replaced recently at the dealership.
