I have an eagle talon tsi awd
my parents made me by the car in automatic so i can learn how to drive good, now i want manual, but don't have 20,000 to buy a new car.
I like my talon, and don't mind spending some to get it quick. Hopefully make it run 12's
The first thing I want to do to my stock car is change it over from automatic to manual.
How much would something like this cost, approx, and is it possible?
Thanks...
Mark

you should talk to a dealer about that. you would need a new transmission which is about 700 800 dollars? plus labor to put it in id say about 1000 dollars after you are done installing it.

Wassup Man--->
Aight, first off, I work at a speed shop and I perform extrmeme mods for a living. Second of all you need a 5 speed transaxle. Third, you will need a clutch master cylinder. Fourth, you will need a shifter. Fifth, you will need the clutch pedal assembly. Sixth you need the shift plate, linkage, and cables. Seventh, you need a clutch. Eighth, you need all the hard lines for your clutch master cylinder. Ninth you will need to cut stratigecally place holes in the firewall and floor board. Tenth, you will need variouse tools, parts, and expertise which I will not list cause Im tired:) right now.
The price list is "approximate"
1. Good Deal on tranny------------> 600$
2. Clutch-----------------------------> 300$
3. Clutch Master Cylinder----------> 100$
4. Shifter-----------------------------> 100$
5. Clutch Pedal Assembly-----------> 50$ (used)
6. Shitf Plate, Linkage, Cables------> 50$ (used)
7. Bolts, Extra Parts, and Whatnot...---> 50$
8. Labor-------------->1000$
Total---------------------------------> 2200$ +/- 300$

I'd say you're better off buying a used manual than making your Talon suffer through a Automatic to Manual conversion. I do have to say... I thought it would cost a lot more than $2200 to swap the trannys, install the pedal, etc.

well i figured it would cost probably 2000.00 to switch the parts. I was going to redo the interior of the car, with new seats, carpeting..etc so it wouldn't be to big as far as installing the pedal and shifter.
So I estimated 3,500.00 with all that.
I know someone who can do the labor probably for a low price, maybe for like 500.00
But then I heard you need a new chip for the air/fuel ratio and shit like that. It ain't worth it for a 1997 eagle talon, i'll still to either a used eclipse or a use 96-99 civic ex or 2002 RSX TYpe-S
oh, does anyone know if they sell dash kits to install a single din radio/cd player for an alpine radio to put into the Type S?
B/C there radio is huge!
