Hello,
We recently found a round 1/2" diameter honeycombed rod type thing laying on the floorboard of our Tahoe. A couple days after that, we realized our DTRL were no longer working. Did the rod we find have something to do with it? And how do we fix them. Thank you in advance!

i got the opposite question... i want to know how to disable my DTRL. i want to install a switch to shut them off. it's kind of annoying some times to not be able to turn those off...i have a '98 though.

to turn off the dtrl's you can click down once on the emergency brake. it won't activate the brake but the lights will go off

Don,t use the emergency brake. Pull the fuse under the hood. One click on my tahoe emergency brake drag's the rear brakes. Dave

WORST THAN DRAGING THE BREAKS IT REPLACES ONE IDIOT LIGHT WITH ANOTHER!!!!
If its a NBS truck did you try the clicking the "cargo light" switch on and off a few times. 3 times i think?
As for people with the OBS trucks, do you want to turn of your DRLs bc of the idiot light on your dash or bc you actualy want them off? I like haveing daytime running lights, but I hated that stupid green light being on. So I pulled the cluster and removed the bulb. it is REALY REALY EASY TO DO!!!

In the case where the dtrl's arent working...is the green light illuminated on the dash board? If it is a commonly replaced part is something under the dashboard. Its black and has fins on it. It was $20 at the chevy dealer. Just tell them what the problem is and they will know what to give you.

the honeycomb thing is a diode for your dtrl put it back in and you will have your lights back. and for the one that wants to disable take the diode out. they will not come back on until you put it back in. Where the diode is should be at about the knee height on the right of the steering column. It is on the 1996 to 1999 gm trucks.look for a plug that has two wires

my understanding is that the DTRL is postive closed circuit and a negative that is cut when the ebrake is applied, so if you look at the brake assembly there is one wire going in the front top of it, that wire grounds the relay/switch for the lights to come on, removing or grounding that could be the solution??, I'll look at it some more, but that vehicle is not here right now, oh and as always be careful with your headlight systems and make sure you test it before operating you vehicle

I absolutely HAVE to chime in here. A friend told me "THE" way to disable the DTRL. It's so simple, I didn't believe it until I tried it. I have a 2000 Tahoe LT. Simply push in the "Dome Over-ride" switch 3 or four times in succession. You will hear a "ding" when the DTRL's go out. This will also enable you to turn off your headlights. Simply repeat the process to turn them back on. Please keep in mind "SAFETY FIRST". As I've stated it works on my Tahoe. Please reply and let me know if it works on other years / models as well. Cool Heh?

Bumper, Most of us know that trick, the problem is it only works on the NBS trucks. so you need to be a bit more "creative" on the OBS trucks

I have just purchased a 1999 Tahoe and also wanted to disable the Day time running lights. And it is correct to remove the #15 Fuse Marked DRL/Fog. Took me about 10 seconds to find it.
Thanks!
