Mirror replacement

I just whacked my passenger mirror and broke it. I'm a little surprised that it didn't have those springs that are supposed to allow the mirror to move a little to prevent this (they have that sort of thing on Ford Escorts...why not a 40K lincoln?) Anyway, I was wondering what kind of price I'm looking at for a replacement part, and also if the mirrors come prepainted (logic would point to "yes", because I don't see a body shop disassembling a mirror to paint all of it).
This is for a 2000 LS.
Thanks for your time.

That would be great if I had a red car and didn't need the part right away. Unfortunately, my car is black and I need the part within a few days.
At least I know that the mirrors do indeed come in colors to match the car, rather than needing a separate paint job.
That should help speed up the process.

They only come in colors when they are taken off of an already-painted car. Bite the bullet and order the part from the dealership. Time is money...lot's of it. Black is easy. Paint it yourself.
